The trailer is one of the best trailers that I have seen this year. I have waited for it for months. At long last I was able to see it at Glorietta. Unfortunately, it is exclusively shown in Ayala malls only. Its plot revolves around the songs of the greatest band on earth-the Beatles. Yes, I’m talking about Julie Taymor’s (director of Frida)- or shall we say, Beatles’- Across the Universe.
There are two things to consider for viewers to appreciate this film. First, he must be at least familiar with some of the songs of Beatles. Second, he must remember that this film is a musical. With these two things in mind, he is about to experience a magical journey that is unlike anything that he has ever seen before.
One thing I like about this film is how it is able to incorporate Beatles songs into one epic, big drama of survival, war and romance. But I have to admit that I find this film great mostly because of the songs and spectacular visuals not for its plot, characters or screenplay. But it is still a great musical nonetheless. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
